Ralf Axel Gehlert

Beginner for life. After skating one of those colorful 10 inch now called "oldschool" boards for about one year at the end of the 80s, restarted skateboarding at age 44 "only to finally learn how to ollie". Never became good but still having fun and exploring the world of skateboarding. One way of exploration is discovering skateable places. Sidewalks, roads, skateable "things", ... and of course the skateparks all around us.

Questions I have (actually) been asked when taking pictures of a skatepark:

* Are you actually skating yourself?
* Are you a city employee?
* Is this skatepark about to be taken down?

Rules for skatepark hunting:

Rule #1: Always say Hi to the locals.

Rule #2: Always take a skateboard with you and at least roll around to feel the ground. And there is always that one obstacle you want to try immediately.

Rule #3: If you forgot rule #1, at least wear skateshoes. Other skaters might see the stoke in your eyes and lend you their skateboard for a few minutes ;-)

Rule #4: You can always take that 10 minute detour to visit a new skatepark that's on your way when traveling from A to B.

Rule #5: Have fun! ;-)
