ABOUT SKATEPARK

Alberton skatepark

The Alberton Skatepark, located in Hank Roat Memorial Park, Montana, was completed in 2019. It spans roughly 7,000 square feet and was designed and constructed by Evergreen Skateparks, a prominent builder of skateparks across the country. This skatepark features a signature bowl designed by Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament, who has been involved in building many skateparks through his Montana Pool Service foundation. Ament personally contributed $50,000 to the project.

The funding for the Alberton Skatepark was a collaborative effort. In addition to Ament's contribution, the project received grants from the Tony Hawk Foundation, Montana State Parks, and the Montana Pool Service, along with local fundraising efforts. The total project cost exceeded $200,000. The town of Alberton also contributed $50,000, and additional funds were raised through events and grants from organizations like the Washington Foundation and Montana Rail Link.

The skatepark was built to address the lack of recreational activities for local youth, as identified by a 2016 community survey. The PEAK Foundation played a central role in raising funds and coordinating the project.
