Apollo Skatepark, located within Apollo Park at 3403 7th Avenue in Kearney, Nebraska, is a 10,000-square-foot concrete facility designed for skateboards, roller skates, and inline skates. The park features various elements, including 4-foot, 5-foot, and 6-foot quarter pipes, a China wall, hubbas, stair rails, a spine, rollers, and a mini ramp. It is open to the public daily from sunrise to sunset and is free of charge. The development of Apollo Skatepark was a community-driven effort that culminated in its completion in August 2014. The project involved significant contributions from local volunteers, including a determined 11-year-old advocate who initiated a petition to garner support for the skatepark. These grassroots efforts led to fundraising activities, such as pancake feeds, and collaboration with the Kearney Park and Recreation Department, which matched up to $150,000 in funds.
