Brough Park Skatepark, located in Leek, Staffordshire, was designed and built by Maverick Skateparks in 2018. The project, valued at around £200,000, replaced an older facility that featured modular ramps on a tarmac base. The new concrete skatepark offers a more modern and durable structure, including features such as a bowl, quarter pipes, ledges, and a large plaza section. These elements cater to both beginners and experienced skaters, making it a popular spot for skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooter users.
The funding for the skatepark came from a combination of local council budgets and additional fundraising efforts. The redevelopment was part of a broader initiative by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council to enhance recreational spaces in Leek, aiming to provide more engaging facilities for the local community. The park’s floodlit design allows for extended use, even during the winter months, which has increased its popularity.
The previous skatepark at Brough Park was relatively basic and had become outdated. The new facility marks a significant upgrade in both design and quality, reflecting modern skatepark trends that prioritize versatility and flow for a variety of users. The project was well-received by the local community, which was involved in the design process through consultations that helped shape the final layout of the park.
This redevelopment is part of a larger effort by the council to improve outdoor activity zones in Brough Park, which also includes a new multi-use games area and upgrades to tennis courts.
