Chinook Winds Skatepark

The Chinook Winds Skatepark, located within the Chinook Winds Regional Park in Airdrie, Alberta, is one of the largest and most comprehensive outdoor action sports facilities in Western Canada. Spanning over 20,000 square feet, this world-class park was designed and built by New Line Skateparks in 2011. The project was the result of significant community engagement and a commitment by the City of Airdrie to provide a high-performance space that could accommodate the rapidly growing local population of skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooter enthusiasts.

The design is a sprawling, high-energy environment that masterfully integrates diverse terrain styles. The park is anchored by a massive, multi-level bowl complex that features varied depths and extensions, catering to advanced transition riders looking for speed and verticality. This is complemented by an expansive street plaza that flows intuitively around the bowl, offering a technical array of hubba ledges, flat rails, stair sets, and manual pads. A standout feature of the park is its "flow" design, which uses banks and quarter pipes to create a continuous loop, allowing riders to maintain momentum across the entire facility without having to step off their boards.

The Chinook Winds Skatepark is also notable for its site integration; it is situated within a larger 55-acre regional park that includes a spray park, multi-use courts, and baseball diamonds. The facility features integrated seating for spectators and is built to the highest durability standards to withstand the varying Alberta climate.
