Deventer Skatepark, located in the city of Deventer, Netherlands, was built by Nine Yards Skateparks, a well-known company in skatepark construction. The project was completed in 2021 as part of a larger effort to revitalize public recreational spaces. This concrete park features a range of elements catering to skateboarders, BMX riders, and other urban sports enthusiasts. The design incorporates both street and bowl sections, providing versatile terrain for skaters of all levels.
One of the unique aspects of the Deventer Skatepark project was its challenging location, being situated close to a hospital. Despite this, the construction team managed to successfully complete the park, maintaining uninterrupted access to the hospital throughout the build. The park was designed with input from the local community, ensuring that it met the needs and expectations of its users. This participatory approach was a key element in the park's development, involving local skaters in design workshops to fine-tune features.
The project was funded by the Township of Deventer, showcasing the city’s commitment to supporting urban sports and providing high-quality, accessible public spaces. Since its opening, the park has become a popular spot for local skaters and continues to host events, further solidifying its place in the city's recreational offerings.
