Weymouth Avenue, Dorchester DT1 1QZ United Kingdom.
Dorchester Skatepark, located at Little Fairfield, Weymouth Avenue, Dorchester, opened in April 2009 and was designed and built by Maverick Industries, a renowned skatepark construction company. The park was created with significant input from local skaters, particularly through the Dorchester Skatepark Committee, which worked alongside the designers to ensure the facility met the needs of the community.
The skatepark features a concrete construction, which was formed on-site, making it highly durable and faster for skating compared to older, prefabricated structures. It includes a bowl section with a variety of transitions and a plaza-style street section with ledges, stairs, and rails, catering to both novice and advanced skaters. The unique design allows riders to explore multiple lines and styles, from street tricks to flowing transitions.
Funding for the park came from multiple sources, including Dorchester Town Council, the Big Lottery Fund, West Dorset District Council, and several other local partnerships. The Dorchester Skatepark Committee also raised funds to support the project. The park remains free to use and is a popular spot for BMX riders, scooter users, and inline skaters, as well as skateboarders.
This skatepark has become a vital recreational space in the region and is celebrated for its high-quality design, ensuring it can serve the community for many years.
