El Sereno Skatepark, located in the El Sereno neighborhood of Los Angeles, opened in 2018 and spans 12,000 square feet. It was designed and built by California Skateparks, a prominent skatepark design firm. The park was a significant upgrade from the previous modular setup, transforming into a modern street plaza that appeals to both local skaters and professionals.
The skatepark includes a variety of features such as hubbas, handrails, stair sets, euro gaps, ledges, and banks, offering something for skaters of all skill levels. The design pays homage to classic street spots, making it a favorite for those seeking a more authentic street-skating experience. In addition to the street elements, the park has a mini-ramp quarter pipe and open flat ground areas that cater to beginners.
The funding for the park came from local city efforts as part of a broader initiative to enhance recreational spaces in Los Angeles, ensuring that it remains free and open to the public from 8 AM to 8 PM daily. The park has quickly become a hub for the community and is known for its vibrant atmosphere, frequently drawing professional skaters and filming crews for skate videos.
Its location at 4721 Klamath Street also makes it accessible and a focal point for local skate culture, further enriching the recreational options in East Los Angeles.
