ABOUT SKATEPARK

Esperance skatepark

Esperance Skatepark, located in Western Australia, is a modern, multi-generational facility designed to serve both the local youth and broader community. The park was designed and constructed by Convic, a renowned skatepark design firm, following community consultations in 2015 to ensure the facility met local needs. It officially opened on October 13, 2016, with a grand celebration event in December 2016 called "Edge of the Bay" featuring skateboarding workshops, competitions, live music, and more.

Funding for the skatepark came from several sources, including the Royalties for Regions program, Lotterywest, Tourism WA, and the Shire of Esperance. The park is part of a broader waterfront redevelopment project, which aimed to enhance the recreational offerings and public spaces along the Esperance foreshore.

The skatepark itself features both street and transition areas suitable for a range of skill levels, from beginner to intermediate. Some of the key features include an intermediate bowl, a street run with obstacles like flat bars, ledges, and euro gaps, and a transition flow area with varied elements like hips and moguls.
