Exeter Arena Summer lane, Exeter, Devon EX4 8NT, United Kingdom
The Exeter Arena Skatepark, located at Summer Lane in Exeter, was designed and built by Maverick Industries, a leading company in concrete skatepark construction. Completed in late 2018, this skatepark was part of a major upgrade aimed at providing a high-quality facility for the local skateboarding, BMX, and scooter communities. The design process involved significant input from local skaters, with over 300 community members contributing to the consultation. This helped ensure the park met the specific needs and desires of the skating community.
The new facility features a plaza-style design, incorporating a variety of popular skate elements such as ramps, quarter pipes, flatbanks, ledges, and rails. There is also a seating and viewing area, making the skatepark a great space for both participants and spectators. The renovation replaced the old, worn-out park, which had been well-loved but had reached the end of its usable life. Temporary equipment was installed during construction to ensure local skaters had a space to use in the meantime.
Funding for the skatepark came primarily from the Exeter City Council, reflecting a strong commitment to providing improved recreational spaces for the city's youth. The official opening of the new skatepark was marked by a Skate Jam event in April 2019, featuring demonstrations, competitions, and live music, which drew a large crowd and showcased the new park's capabilities.
The park continues to be a popular destination for skaters in the region, offering a well-designed, modern space for a variety of skill levels.
