The Facultades Skatepark, also widely known as Skatepark Plaza Houssay, is one of the most culturally significant spots in Buenos Aires. Located in the heart of the city’s university district, it sits directly across from the UBA School of Medicine and right next to the Hospital de Clínicas José de San Martín. The park features a rugged yet functional design, highlighted by a compact open bowl that flows directly into a technical street section. The street area is packed with obstacles including quarter pipes, rails, and manual pads, designed to accommodate both high-speed lines and technical stationary tricks. While the bowl is relatively short, it is deep enough to offer a challenge for transition skaters looking to practice carves and airs in a dense urban setting.
Renovated as part of the broader Plaza Houssay revitalization, the skatepark is known for its gritty, "true-to-the-streets" atmosphere. Because it is surrounded by hospital and university buildings, the air is often filled with the sounds of the city, creating a unique backdrop for afternoon sessions. It is a public, free-access park that remains lit well into the evening, making it a reliable staple for the local skateboarding community.
