Francis Hack Lane, La Quinta, California 92253, United States of America.
Fritz Burns Skatepark, located in La Quinta, California, was originally built with a collection of metal ramps that served the community for about 15 years. In 2018, the park underwent a major renovation, led by SpohnRanch Skateparks, which transformed the facility into a modern concrete skatepark. This upgrade was part of a larger revitalization project at Fritz Burns Park, which aimed to improve the recreational spaces for local residents.
The newly renovated skatepark covers approximately 2,500 square feet and features a variety of street and transition elements. These include a hipped bank, manual pad, flat grind rail, quarterpipes, and ledges, offering a balanced mix of challenges for both beginners and advanced skaters. The project was constructed using environmentally-friendly techniques, such as building on top of existing asphalt and using EPS foam blocks to reduce material waste.
The redesign aimed to enhance the experience for local skaters, and its reopening in March 2018 attracted significant attention, including visits from local skaters and professional skateboarders like Daniel Espinoza. The park was celebrated for its compact yet functional design, making it a key recreational spot for the community.
Funding for the renovation was part of the city's broader efforts to upgrade public spaces, with a focus on long-term sustainability. The new concrete design provides durability and reduces the maintenance issues that plagued the original metal ramps.
Fritz Burns Skatepark is now a hub for skateboarding in La Quinta, and its success has led to further skatepark projects in the area, including plans for the larger La Quinta X Park. Photos courtesy of SpohnRanch skateparks
