Gallup Skatepark, located in Gallup, New Mexico, officially opened in 2018 and was designed by SpohnRanch, a well-known skatepark design and construction firm. This 10,000-square-foot skatepark is a street-focused park but also incorporates some transition elements to offer a variety of experiences for skaters, BMX riders, inline skaters, and scooters.
The skatepark's design features a mix of street obstacles such as a quarter pipe, manual pads, a London gap, handrails, flat rails, ledges, stairs, and a funbox. There’s also a long quarter pipe with varying heights, allowing for more creative tricks. A standout feature is a painted medicine wheel in the center of the park, reflecting the cultural heritage of the surrounding Navajo Nation and Zuni Reservation communities.
This skatepark was funded through a combination of local community support and state funding. It serves as a recreational hub for local youth and visitors, offering a safe, engaging environment for skateboarding and other wheeled sports. Its downtown location, along Route 66, adds to its accessibility and significance within Gallup.
