It was designed and built by Convic, a well-known skatepark design firm. This facility, which opened in the mid-2000s, is primarily focused on street skating and lacks transitions, making it ideal for those interested in rails, ledges, and stairs.
The skatepark features multiple levels with elements like hubbas, rails, metal-edged banks, and manual pads, catering to a variety of skating styles. Its smooth design and proximity to Geelong’s scenic waterfront have made it a popular spot, not only for skaters but also for tourists and locals who use the surrounding facilities. The park’s location, near Deakin University, has contributed to its popularity on social media, often appearing in student posts.
Despite some initial controversy about its placement in a prime waterfront area, the skatepark has become a key attraction in the region, benefiting from public funding initiatives aimed at enhancing youth recreation spaces.
