705 N Alex Plaisance Boulevard, Golden Meadow, Louisiana 70357, United States of America
Golden Meadow Skatepark, located in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, opened in 2017 and is the first skatepark in the region. The 6,000-square-foot facility was designed and built by Spohn Ranch, a well-known skatepark development firm. The project was initiated as part of an effort to provide local youth with a dedicated space for skateboarding, and it has become an overwhelming success since its opening, attracting skaters from across the state.
The skatepark features red-pigmented concrete and offers a mix of street and transition elements, designed to accommodate skaters of varying skill levels. The design includes manual pads, clean lines for smooth flow, and long ledges, ensuring a versatile skating experience. One notable challenge in the construction was the site's high water table, which dictated the above-grade design of the park. Despite these challenges, the park was completed with modern aesthetics and functional skating features.
Funding for the park came from parish resources, with the project costing approximately $340,000. SpohnRanch, responsible for both design and construction, worked closely with local skateboarders to ensure the design met the community's needs. The grand opening of the park took place in March 2017, and it has been in use daily ever since. Golden Meadow Skatepark operates from dawn to dusk and does not have lighting for night skating, making it a daytime-only facility. However, its popularity and well-executed design have made it a standout recreational spot in the region. This project reflects Golden Meadow's commitment to enhancing youth recreational opportunities and fostering community engagement.
