Goleta Skatepark, located at 170 South Kellogg Avenue in Goleta, California, officially opened in March 2019. The park, which spans 4,500 square feet, is part of the larger 4-acre Jonny D. Wallis Neighborhood Park in Goleta’s Old Town area. SpohnRanch, a well-known skatepark design and construction firm, was commissioned by the City of Goleta to design the park, which incorporated feedback from local skateboarders gathered during several design workshops.
The skatepark includes a variety of features suitable for both novice and experienced skaters, such as ledges, rails, hipped banks, and a wide quarter-pipe. Its compact but well-organized layout allows for a smooth flow throughout the space, making it an inviting spot for skaters of all ages and abilities. The park's development was part of a broader effort to revitalize the Old Town area, addressing the region's limited recreational spaces.
The entire project, including the skatepark, was funded through multiple sources, with a significant $910,000 grant from the state Department of Parks and Recreation. This funding was essential for the development of the park, which also includes other amenities such as sports fields, exercise equipment, a playground, and a picnic area.
