Haagse Beemden skatepark

Haagse Beemden Skatepark, located in the Haagse Beemden neighborhood of Breda, Netherlands, was completed in 2021. The project was designed and built by Nine Yards Skateparks in collaboration with MINT Urban Design. Covering an area of 700 square meters, this concrete skatepark was part of a revitalization effort for the neighborhood, replacing an older, underused skatepark that had fallen out of favor due to outdated equipment.

The new design prioritizes both aesthetics and functionality. One of the park's notable features is the integration of granite floor tiles into the concrete, adding a unique visual appeal while enhancing the skateboarding experience. The park includes a variety of elements such as a speed bump, hubba, roll-in, open bowl, and quarterpipe, as well as manual pads, handrails, and ledges. These features offer diverse lines for skaters of all levels and encourage creative use of the space.

The project was driven by the municipality of Breda, which aimed to create a safe, welcoming, and multifunctional public space. The skatepark doubles as a city park with recreational areas for non-skaters, including landscaped green spaces and seating for visitors. This approach to urban design underscores the importance of creating inclusive spaces that serve both the skateboarding community and the broader public.

Since its opening, Haagse Beemden Skatepark has been well-received by both skaters and local residents, becoming a hub for outdoor activities in the area.
