ABOUT SKATEPARK

Hilltop skatepark

Hilltop Skatepark, affectionately known as "The Dish," holds the distinction of being San Francisco's oldest skatepark. Established in 1979 in the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood, it quickly became a central hub for the skateboarding community. The park's unique design and challenging features attracted skaters from all over, including notable figures like Tommy Guerrero, who filmed several skate videos at the site.

Over the years, the original structure of The Dish began to show signs of wear, prompting a significant renovation in 2016. This revitalization was a collaborative effort involving the Tony Hawk Foundation, Grindline Skateparks, and the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department. The updated 16,000-square-foot facility now boasts modern features such as a guitar-shaped bowl, a volcano, banks, quarter pipes, roll-ins, and corners, catering to skaters of all skill levels.

Located at 61 Whitney Young Circle, Hilltop Skatepark is open daily from 8:30 AM to 9 PM and is free to the public. Its rich history and contemporary design make it a cherished landmark in San Francisco's skateboarding scene.
