ABOUT SKATEPARK

Hilversum Nike skatepark

Hilversum’s Nike Skatepark, also known as the Nike HomeCourt Skate Landscape, is a striking public space located in the Arenapark, Hilversum. Opened in 2021, this skatepark is part of the Nike EMEA headquarters campus and was designed by the architecture firm F31 in collaboration with landscape architects Bureau B+B. It spans 2,300 square meters and is built as a unique “skate landscape,” blending traditional architecture with skateboarding features.

The park’s centerpiece is the "Aalto Wave," an innovative element inspired by Alvar Aalto’s kidney-shaped swimming pool designs, which influenced early skate bowls in California. The entire park is designed to encourage creativity and free movement, integrating elements like ledges, banks, and a volcano with more fluid public space. This open concept breaks away from the typical fenced-in skateparks, promoting skateboarding as a borderless activity. Notably, all skateable elements in the park reference iconic skateboarding structures from over the decades, creating a dynamic environment for riders of all levels.

Nike partnered with Nine Yards Skateparks for the construction, known for their expertise in building high-quality, durable skateparks. The project was part of a larger campus renovation initiative funded by Nike, which aimed to make the space more accessible to the public. Today, the Nike skatepark is freely accessible and has become a popular destination not only for skateboarders but also for the local community to gather and enjoy this innovative urban landscape.

The design of the skatepark and its integration into the urban environment reflect Nike’s broader goal of fostering inclusivity and creativity through sport, art, and architecture.

Great place for a chill skate, concrete is buttery smooth. Intermediate level of skating recommended to enjoy it. It’s very much an art piece as a skate park and not your standard layout. Could really benefit from a round rail in the ground somewhere.
