Trucks and Fins is a huge present to the whole skate community - not just for the skating people, but also for shops, builders and schools. Super easy to use and can't believe how complete it is.

Houghton Skatepark, located in Houghton, Michigan, was built in 2018 and officially opened in 2019. The project was led by the Houghton MI Skatepark Committee, which worked closely with the community and city officials to bring the vision to life. The design and construction were carried out by SpohnRanch Skateparks, a leading company known for building numerous skateparks across the U.S.
The park spans 5,000 square feet and features a variety of obstacles, including ramps, rails, quarterpipes, hips, and tables, designed to cater to skaters of all skill levels. Its location on the Houghton East Waterfront offers scenic views of the Keweenaw Waterway, making it a popular spot during the warmer months.
Funding for the park came from a combination of local fundraising efforts and grants. The community raised over $50,000 through crowdfunding, and the project received additional support from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), which provided a $50,000 matching grant. The Tony Hawk Foundation also contributed $10,000 to the project. Thanks to these efforts, the park was able to be completed in a single phase instead of the originally planned two-phase construction.
This skatepark has quickly become a hub for local skaters and BMX riders, offering a dedicated space for outdoor recreation and community gathering. It is only the second professional concrete skatepark in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, following the Marquette Skate Plaza, and has inspired more youth-oriented projects in the region.
The park has been well-received, and its central location makes it easily accessible for locals and visitors alike.
