The Hyde Park Skatepark in Niagara Falls, New York, officially opened in 2016 and is located at 898 Hyde Park Boulevard. Spanning 8,000 square feet, the skatepark was designed and built by SpohnRanch, a well-known skatepark construction company. This project was part of the city's broader efforts to revitalize recreational spaces, and it benefited from a $10,000 grant from the Tony Hawk Foundation (aka The Skatepark Project) to help make the skatepark a reality. The design process involved significant community input through public meetings, and safety was a priority, particularly for local parents and city officials.
The park offers a range of features, including manual pads, flat rails, a quarterpipe, London Gap, ledges, a funbox, handrails, banks, and a miniramp. The layout is linear, designed to allow smooth flow without crossing pathways, helping skaters maintain momentum and avoid collisions. This versatile design accommodates skateboarders, BMX riders, and inline skaters, providing a safe and exciting environment for different skill levels.
The funding for the park was supported by federal sources through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, which helped finance both the construction and the improvements to the surrounding park facilities. The skatepark is a free, dawn-to-dusk facility and has quickly become a key feature of the Hyde Park area.
