ABOUT SKATEPARK

Juxtaposition Arts Skatepark

The Juxtaposition Arts Skate-able Art Plaza is a unique public space located at the intersection of Emerson Avenue North and West Broadway Avenue in North Minneapolis, Minnesota. Completed in May 2019, this 4,200-square-foot plaza serves as both a skatepark and an art installation, reflecting the community's commitment to creativity and recreation.

The plaza was collaboratively designed by Juxtaposition Arts (JXTA) students and staff, with assistance from City of Skate. It integrates skateboarding elements with flexible open spaces, art installations, and sustainable stormwater management systems, creating a multifunctional environment for various activities. Renowned artists, including the TATS CRU from the Bronx, contributed to the plaza's vibrant murals, enhancing its aesthetic appeal and cultural significance.

The development of the Skate-able Art Plaza was made possible through generous contributions from various organizations, including the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee Legacy Fund, the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization, and a successful Kickstarter campaign. Each entity contributed $50,000 to bring this innovative project to life.
