227 N Lake Street, Los Angeles, California 90026, United States of America.
Lake Street Skatepark in Los Angeles is a popular skating destination, especially after its significant renovation in 2019. The park was originally constructed to provide a safe and engaging space for the local skating community, but by 2019, it was in need of a revamp. The renovation was undertaken by SpohnRanch, a prominent skatepark design and construction company, known for their work on skateparks across the U.S. The redesign aimed to modernize the park with new concrete features including stairs, ledges, quarter pipes, and rails, enhancing its appeal for both street and transition skaters.
Located in Historic Filipinotown, the skatepark was part of a broader community project spearheaded by Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell and the Department of Recreation and Parks. This public project was funded through local government initiatives, aligning with the city’s efforts to improve recreational facilities. The skatepark spans 7,000 square feet and is part of the larger Lake Street Community Center, which also serves as a hub for other community activities. The renovations included adding a modified bowl, which has become a key feature of the park, attracting both local skaters and visitors.
The skatepark now operates daily, offering extended hours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and includes amenities such as restrooms and shaded seating areas, making it a comfortable spot for skaters to gather. The redesign also emphasizes safety, with helmets and pads required for all users, ensuring a protected environment for both new and experienced skaters.
