Laramie Park Skatepark in Cicero, Illinois, was completed in 2016 as part of the Laramie Park Extension project. The skatepark was designed and built by SpohnRanch, a renowned skatepark construction company, and the overall park development was overseen by Wheaton-based Planning Resources. The skatepark was part of a broader park upgrade, which also included a new animal shelter, dog park, and other recreational amenities.
The skatepark features a linear flow bowl with sharp hips, round hips, multiple waterfalls, and a bank extension. The park includes a small street section with ledges and manual pads. This addition brought much-needed transition elements to an area that was previously dominated by street skating. The skatepark has been well-received by the local skateboarding community and has become a popular location for skaters of all levels, offering a smooth and enjoyable ride.
The funding for the skatepark came from local sources and city allocations. Despite financial challenges in Illinois at the time, Cicero rose above budget constraints to deliver this much-needed facility for local youth and the skateboarding community.
