The Mandurah Skatepark, part of the Western Foreshore redevelopment project, was designed and built by Convic, a renowned company specializing in skatepark construction. It officially opened in December 2020 as the first stage of the broader Mandurah Waterfront Project, which aims to revitalize the area for residents and visitors.
The $22 million Mandurah Waterfront Project was funded by contributions from the State Government ($10 million), the Federal Government ($7 million), and the City of Mandurah ($5 million). The skatepark itself features three distinct skate zones catering to various skill levels, including a competition-grade bowl for skaters, BMX, and scooter riders. In addition to skating areas, the park includes recreational spaces such as grassed areas, elevated spectator seating with shelters, a basketball half-court, and facilities like drinking fountains and lighting for evening use.
The project involved extensive community consultation, allowing local residents to shape the final design. This new skatepark is a focal point for Mandurah's efforts to boost tourism and provide modern recreational spaces for the community.
