1625 Marine Avenue, Manhattan Beach, California 90266, United States of America
The Manhattan Beach Skatepark, located at Marine Avenue Park, opened in 2017 after years of community efforts. The park was designed by Stantec’s Action Sport Group, led by Kanten Russell, a former professional skateboarder, and constructed by SpohnRanch Skateparks. Covering 6,000 square feet, this triangular skatepark is designed to accommodate both street and transition skating. The park includes features like flat banks, rails, a stair set, ledges, manual pads, and a quarter pipe, offering a versatile layout for skaters of various skill levels.
The project had been in the works for over 15 years, driven by local skaters and community advocates who wanted a dedicated space for skateboarding. Funding for the park came from a $300,000 grant from the Los Angeles County Safe Neighborhood Parks initiative, along with contributions from the city. The park’s design was influenced by feedback from local skaters, ensuring it met the needs of the community.
The Manhattan Beach Skatepark is popular among local skaters and is known for its smooth concrete and strategically placed obstacles that make it enjoyable for both beginners and experienced skaters. The park is open daily from dawn to dusk, benefiting from nearby lighting from the adjacent baseball fields for evening use.
Half street section, half transition, smooth concrete. Gets crowded in the weekends. They charge a small fee and you must wear helmets, knee pads, elbow pads...
