Marquette Skate Plaza, located in Marquette, Michigan, opened in 2013 after a significant community-wide effort to provide a permanent space for skateboarders. Designed and built by SpohnRanch Skateparks, the plaza covers 9,000 square feet and focuses on street-style elements. Key features include hubba ledges, flat rails, manual pads, an A-frame with rails, and a quarterpipe with a hip, making it ideal for skaters of all skill levels. The skatepark’s design caters to beginners while offering plenty of challenges for more advanced skaters.
The project was largely driven by local efforts, with Nheena Weyer Ittner playing a pivotal role in both the proposal and the fundraising to bring the park to life. The plaza has seen some upgrades since its construction, reinforcing its status as one of the Upper Peninsula's premier skateboarding destinations. In 2024, the park was officially renamed the Nheena Weyer Ittner Skate Park to honor her contributions to the community.
The skatepark has become a popular gathering spot for both locals and visitors, offering a well-balanced mix of obstacles and a community atmosphere. It serves as a central hub for the local skate scene and regularly hosts events and competitions.
