Bosworth Road, Swadlincote DE12 7LQ, Measham, United Kingdom.
Measham Skatepark, located in Measham, Leicestershire, was completed and opened in September 2015. The park was designed and built by Maverick Industries, a company renowned for creating high-quality skateparks across the UK. This project came to fruition after nearly a decade of effort by the local community, driven by the DE12 SK8 group, which worked alongside Maverick to ensure the park met the needs of the area's youth.
The skatepark was built as a response to a 2005 consultation with Measham residents, which identified a lack of facilities for young people and concerns about anti-social behavior. The project took several years to complete, with key milestones including a grant of £20,000 in December 2014, the placement of the park order in January 2015, and the relocation of the existing zip wire to make space for the new facility. Construction began in June 2015, and by September, the park was officially open to the public, with a grand opening event held later that month.
Measham Skatepark features a concrete design, including a bowl, street section, quarterpipes, ledges, and other obstacles suitable for skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooter users. The design is tailored to both beginners and advanced riders, offering a versatile space for various skill levels.
Funding for the project came from a variety of sources, including grants and community efforts. The skatepark is now a central hub for youth activities in Measham, promoting healthy lifestyles and providing a safe space for outdoor recreation.
