Milnrow Skatepark, located in Milnrow Memorial Park near Rochdale, was built in 2013 by Maverick Industries, a leading company specializing in skatepark construction. The project was part of an initiative to provide a dedicated space for skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooter enthusiasts in the community. The skatepark features a variety of elements, including an open bowl, jump box, quarter pipes, handrails, and ledges, making it suitable for both beginners and more advanced riders.
The development of the skatepark was a community-driven project, with significant input from local youth, including students from nearby schools, who helped shape the design. The total cost of the project was £78,000, with the majority of the funding coming from local fundraising efforts led by the Friends of Milnrow Park group, alongside contributions from local government.
The skatepark sits on the eastern edge of Milnrow Memorial Park, which was once a former tip site. The park itself is part of a larger recreational space, which includes a war memorial, play areas, and a multi-use games area. The creation of the skatepark marked a significant improvement for local recreational facilities, offering a safe and engaging environment for outdoor activities.
