The North Adams Skatepark, also known as the UNITY Skatepark, is located at 310 State Street in North Adams, Massachusetts. Officially opened in 2017, the park spans 11,000 square feet and was designed and built by SpohnRanch, a renowned skatepark construction company. The park features a well-designed layout that accommodates a range of skating styles and skill levels. It offers a mix of street and transition elements, including quarter pipes, banks, stairs, ledges, and unique tributes to local landmarks, such as a skateable version of the Mount Greylock War Memorial and a replica of the Hoosac Tunnel.
The project was the culmination of over a decade of effort, spearheaded by the local youth organization UNITY and the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition. Funding for the $676,000 skatepark came from a combination of sources, including a Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities (PARC) grant and matching funds from the city's 2016 Community Development Block Grant. The land for the park was donated by local businessman John Wadsworth.
The skatepark has quickly become a central recreational hub in North Adams, attracting skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooter enthusiasts. Its thoughtful design allows for smooth flow between various sections, making it an exciting spot for riders of all skill levels.
