202 W Fillmore Avenue, Fairfield, Iowa 52556, United States of America.
The O.B. Nelson Skatepark, located in Fairfield, Iowa, officially opened on November 1, 2014, and was built by SpohnRanch, a well-known skatepark design and construction company. The skatepark was made possible largely due to a generous donation of $160,000 from Joe Mandarino, a local supporter. The 4,000-square-foot park was designed in collaboration with local skateboarders, ensuring that it met the needs of the community with a balanced mix of street and transition elements.
The park features a multi-level bowl with a waterfall, a tombstone extension, and various hips, alongside a street section with ledges, rails, and a curved manual pad. The design provides skaters with diverse terrain, offering both challenges for experienced skaters and opportunities for beginners to improve their skills. Additionally, the park's use of brick-red colored concrete adds an aesthetic touch to the overall design.
To maintain the integrity of the park, bicycles are not allowed, and users are required to wear safety equipment such as helmets, elbow pads, and knee pads. Since its opening, the park has been a vital part of the community, providing a dedicated space for skaters to practice and enjoy their sport safely.
The skatepark's success and community impact reflect the efforts of both the donors and local skateboarders who pushed for a high-quality facility in Fairfield.
