The Oskaloosa Skatepark in Oskaloosa, Iowa, opened in 2011 and was designed and built by SpohnRanch Skateparks. This 11,000-square-foot park was developed as part of a broader downtown redevelopment project, with the skatepark serving as the centerpiece of the new Urban Park. The design of the park, which took input from local skateboarders and BMX riders, features a combination of street plaza elements and transition-style terrain. Notably, the park includes colored concrete, integrated granite collages, and unique cantilevered obstacles that give it a sculptural, urban aesthetic.
Funding for the park came from various sources, including local business donations, youth fundraising efforts, and a significant grant from the Tony Hawk Foundation. The park was designed to serve the community as a multi-use space, featuring not only skateboarding elements but also a state-of-the-art lighting system and seating areas for spectators.
The park is often praised for being one of the most progressive skateparks in Iowa, setting it apart from the typical metal ramps and flat concrete surfaces found in many other parks across the state. It remains a popular spot for both beginner and advanced riders, contributing to the revitalization of the downtown area.
