ABOUT SKATEPARK

Parque das Gerações skatepark

Parque das Gerações Skatepark, located in São João do Estoril near Cascais, Portugal, is one of the country's most renowned skateparks. It was inaugurated in 2013, following a substantial investment of over €300,000 by the Municipality of Cascais. This park, built with the goal of fostering urban sports, was designed by Francisco Lopez, a prominent figure in skatepark architecture in Portugal. The park features a variety of sections catering to different skateboarding styles and skill levels. It includes a large bowl, snake run, and two interconnected street plazas, making it suitable for skateboarding, BMX, inline skating, and scooters.

The park’s scenic coastal location enhances its appeal, especially during the sunset sessions. Parque das Gerações is more than just a skatepark; it's a social hub, complete with a bar and a skate shop. The community atmosphere and frequent events, including competitions and skate jams, contribute to its vibrant culture. It has also become a training ground for professional skaters, such as Gustavo Ribeiro, who is a well-known figure in the skateboarding world. In addition to its great facilities, the skatepark’s unique location and design make it a top destination for skaters across Portugal

The original skatepark was designed by Francisco Lopez. In 2023 Wasteland skateparks built the flowbowl, the result of another Orçamento Participativo of a total value of €300,000.

This park could be one of the best skateparks in Europe... but now things have turned all twisted and turned into politics. 5 years waiting for a 300000 investment in new infrastructures and nothing... no new bowl, halfpipe, etc the only thing we have is politics... people fighting for their own interests... sad....because we could have a olympic sized bowl and halfpipe and so much more 5 year ago!!!! Why is nobody talking about this?!!! 300000€!!!

Honestly... not worth a visit! It's awesome to have a skatepark with a cafe, skateshop and toilet. But all this will not turn a bad skatepark into a good one. In the Bowl upstairs was a big branch and it seemed that in the night before somebody tried to make a fire. The snakerun was dirty too. All the green areas are totally dry and it seemed to be that no one really cares about the park. This place has so much potential but it needs a crowd who feels responsible to care for it. BTW almost every transition is lower than the tabel or there a cracks in it so take care and check the ramps before you skate them. I promise in the future bigger accidents because of the bad conditions of the ramps will happen. It's so sad it could be such an amazing place for skateboarding.
