The Parque Sarmiento Skatepark, often referred to as the Pista de Skate Nueva Córdoba, is one of the most significant extreme sports facilities in Argentina. Located within the city's largest green lung, the park is uniquely situated in an area previously known as the "old dry dock" (antiguo dique seco), nestled between the Teatro Griego and the Rosedal. This sunken architectural placement provides a natural amphitheater feel, surrounded by native vegetation and the park’s characteristic ravines.
Spanning approximately 3,000 square meters, it is a professional-grade concrete facility designed to accommodate a high volume of users. The layout is divided into distinct sections: a comprehensive street area featuring a variety of rails, stairs, and ledges, and a massive transition zone that includes a series of interconnected bowls and quarters. Because of its scale and high-quality finish, it is a frequent site for national competitions and serves as the primary training ground for Córdoba's elite skateboarders and BMX riders. Its location on Deodoro Roca makes it a central social landmark, integrated with the surrounding museums and university campus, and it is equipped with lighting that allows for extended sessions after sunset.
