Penarth Skatepark, located at Andrew Road in Penarth, underwent a significant redevelopment in 2020. The original park, which featured metal ramps on a tarmac surface, was replaced with a modern concrete skatepark designed and built by Maverick Skateparks. This renovation aimed to provide a more durable and versatile facility to cater to skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooter enthusiasts of all skill levels.
The new concrete design includes a range of features such as a spine, hubbas, curbs, roll-ins, quarter pipes, and ledges. These elements create a flow that accommodates both street-style and transition skating, offering a better experience for users. The redesign of the park was part of a broader effort by the local council to improve community facilities, ensuring that the skatepark can handle higher traffic and reduce noise, which was an issue with the previous metal ramps.
Funding for the redevelopment came from local government sources and community initiatives, reflecting strong local support for upgrading the facility. The involvement of Maverick Skateparks, known for their high-quality concrete skateparks, ensured that the project was completed to a high standard, offering a much more engaging and safe environment for local youth and visitors
