Phear Park Skatepark in Exmouth, UK, was revamped and reopened in 2018 after a significant renovation by Maverick Industries, a specialist in concrete skatepark construction. The redevelopment, costing £150,000, replaced the old timber ramps, which had deteriorated and required continuous maintenance, with durable concrete features designed to last for decades with minimal upkeep. Local skaters and BMX riders were involved in the design process, ensuring that the park met the needs of the community.
The new park includes a variety of features such as bowls, ramps, ledges, and street elements, catering to different skill levels and styles. Maverick Industries emphasized integrating the skatepark into the existing landscape, giving it an artistic feel while ensuring smooth transitions between elements. This design makes the park flow effortlessly, which is appreciated by both skateboarders and BMX riders alike.
The East Devon District Council played a pivotal role in funding the project, working in collaboration with the local community to create a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The park is now considered one of the best in the region, thanks to its robust design and the attention to detail in its construction.
The previous version of the skatepark had been refurbished with timber ramps in 2013, but these only lasted a few years before the decision was made to upgrade to a more permanent concrete structure. Since reopening, Phear Park Skatepark has become a popular destination for action sports enthusiasts in Devon.
