ABOUT SKATEPARK

Port Macquarie skatepark

The Port Macquarie Skatepark, located at Town Beach Reserve in New South Wales, was designed and built by Convic. Opened around 2010, the skatepark is regarded as one of Australia's best, featuring a combination of bowl and plaza-style street areas, which include a half-pipe, fun boxes, ledges, and quarter pipes. This setup makes it suitable for both amateur and professional skaters, as well as BMX riders and scooter users.

The park faced several design and construction challenges, especially due to its location on the foreshore. Extensive geotechnical improvements were necessary to ensure proper drainage, including excavating below the bowl and adding a graded rock layer. The project was funded as part of Port Macquarie's efforts to enhance recreational facilities along its coastal hub.
