Porthleven Skatepark, located in Methleigh Bottoms, Porthleven, Cornwall, was rebuilt in 2017/2018 by Maverick Skateparks, transforming an outdated metal ramp setup into a modern concrete facility. The previous skatepark, which featured a tarmac base with metal ramps, was no longer sufficient to meet the needs of local skaters. The new design, primarily focused on a large, open bowl layout, includes long curved banks, a mini ramp, hips, and roll-ins, providing a versatile space for skateboarders and BMX riders.
The project received a significant boost when it secured £75,000 in funding from Sport England, with additional financial support from Porthleven Town Council. The community played a vital role in shaping the design, working closely with Maverick to ensure it met the needs of local riders. The skatepark’s high-quality construction has made it a popular destination for skaters across Cornwall.
The new facility not only provides an engaging environment for wheeled sports but also serves as a social hub, promoting health, well-being, and community interaction.
