The Provo Recreation Center Skatepark, located in Provo, Utah, is a large 24,000 square-foot concrete skatepark that opened in 2013. It was designed and built by SpohnRanch, a renowned skatepark design firm known for its innovative and community-driven projects. The park's design was inspired by the street-skating style seen in urban plazas, combining artistic elements with functional obstacles, including ledges, hubbas, quarter pipes, stairs, rails, and a variety of manual pads. It also incorporates greenery, with skatable garden beds blending the natural environment with the skating areas.
The park's layout is aimed at providing skaters of all levels with various challenges. While it primarily caters to street skaters, offering versatile obstacles like flat bars, ledges, and gaps, it also features enough transition elements to keep other types of skaters engaged. One notable aspect of the park is its integration with the surrounding urban landscape, allowing for a seamless flow through the park, particularly appealing to skaters moving through the city center.
The project was funded by the City of Provo, as part of their broader development of recreational facilities, particularly in conjunction with the nearby Provo Recreation Center. The skatepark does not have lights or a fence, so it is open daily from sunrise to sunset, and it is free to use for skaters, BMX riders, and scooters.
Since its opening, the park has become a prominent feature in the community, drawing skaters from across Utah for its modern design and inviting street-skating environment.
