Redruth Skatepark, located at East End Playing Fields in Redruth, Cornwall, was completed in October 2021 after a decade of campaigning, planning, and fundraising. The skatepark was designed and built by Maverick Skateparks, a company known for constructing high-quality concrete skateparks. The project aimed to create a modern and inclusive facility for skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooter users of all ages and abilities.
The project faced significant challenges, particularly in raising funds. Redruth Town Council led the effort, securing funding from various sources, including Section 106 allocations and grants from organizations like SUEZ Communities Trust. After overcoming these financial hurdles, construction began in August 2021 and progressed rapidly, with the park opening a few months later.
The new skatepark features a range of elements, including a bowl, spines, and street obstacles, offering a versatile and dynamic space for riders of different skill levels. It has been praised by both the local community and visiting riders for its smooth design and flow, as well as for revitalizing the local area by providing a safe, fun space for physical activity.
The skatepark has quickly become a popular hub for wheeled sports enthusiasts in the region, and the project is seen as a significant achievement for the town, with further plans to continue enhancing local recreational facilities.
