The Rowley Park Skatepark, also known as Gardena Skatepark, is located in Gardena, California, and was completed in 2012. Built by SpohnRanch, the 7,500-square-foot skatepark integrates seamlessly into the landscape of Rowley Park, positioned between a children's play area and tennis courts. The park was designed as a street plaza with urban architectural inspiration, making it a visually appealing space that doubles as a public recreational spot.
The skatepark features a variety of street-style elements including ledges, handrails, hubbas, stairs, and banks. Additionally, it incorporates transition elements such as quarter pipes, manual pads, and China walls, catering to skaters of all levels. While it is primarily designed for skateboarding, it also welcomes scooters and inline skaters.
This project was part of the city's initiative to create accessible, free recreational spaces for the community. The park is open to the public from dawn to dusk, but there are no lights for night use. Its thoughtful design, incorporating both skate functionality and aesthetic appeal, makes it an architectural focal point in Gardena.
