Sergent Blandan Skatepark, located in Lyon, France, is part of Parc Sergent Blandan, which was developed on the grounds of a former military barracks. The park officially opened in 2013 as part of a larger 20-hectare urban redevelopment project, transforming the historic space into a vibrant public park for the community. The skatepark was built in 2013 by X-move. The park was designed by the landscape architecture firm BASE and includes multiple recreational spaces, including the well-known skatepark.
The Sergent Blandan Skatepark is built from concrete and offers a variety of features that appeal to both street and transition skaters. The park includes curbs, handrails, ledges, banks, and stairs, as well as a polejam and a quarterpipe, making it an exciting destination for skaters in the region. Its thoughtful integration into the broader park space, which also includes playgrounds and green areas, makes it a favorite spot for both skaters and non-skaters alike.
Funding for the skatepark was part of the overall redevelopment of Parc Sergent Blandan, which aimed to create new urban spaces for leisure, sports, and community engagement. The transformation of this historical military site into a modern recreational area, complete with a skatepark, underscores Lyon’s commitment to innovative urban renewal.
