423 N Main Street, Stillwater, Oklahoma 74075, United States of America.
Strickland Park Skatepark, located in Stillwater, Oklahoma, was renovated and reopened in March 2019. Originally built as part of the Strickland Park & Sports Complex, the new skatepark is a significant upgrade from its predecessor. The city of Stillwater selected this project for renovation after receiving a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in 2017. The total project cost was around $242,254, with half of that amount ($121,127) funded through the CDBG, which is administered by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce. The rest of the funding came from local sources and city allocations.
The skatepark was designed and built by SpohnRanch, a well-known company specializing in skatepark construction. The upgraded 6,000-square-foot park features modern elements like three quarter-pipes, two hubba ledges, two bank ramps, bump-to-rails, and a pump track. The park also includes amenities like concrete benches, bleachers, a water fountain, and landscaping improvements. The layout is V-shaped, with one symmetrical side and the other side offering a variety of street obstacles, including a pole-jam and a rail.
This renovation not only improved the skateboarding experience for local skaters but also revitalized the recreational offerings at Strickland Park. It continues to be a popular destination for skaters, offering a mix of street and transition elements for different skill levels.
