ABOUT SKATEPARK

Tinnell Memorial skatepark

The Tinnell Memorial Sports Park, located in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, is the largest skatepark in the state, covering a vast 40,000 square feet. It opened in 2013 after several years of planning and fundraising, and it stands as a tribute to Patrick Tinnell, a local BMX rider and soldier who tragically lost his life in Iraq in 2006. The park also honors Colin Sasseen, a local teenager who passed away in a skateboarding accident.

The park's construction was heavily influenced by the Street League Skateboarding (SLS) courses, specifically taking inspiration from the 2013 X Games in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. The upper portion of the park features a backyard-style bowl, a flow course, and a wall ride around a palm tree, while the lower section is dedicated to street skating with stairs, rails, and other technical obstacles. One unique feature is a bowl shaped like a military helmet, a powerful symbol dedicated to Patrick Tinnell.
