Valonia Skatepark, located in New Windsor, Auckland, was opened in 2017 as part of the Waterview Connection project, which aimed to integrate urban infrastructure with community recreational spaces. Designed with a unique volcanic theme, the park's layout reflects Auckland's volcanic heritage, featuring a series of terraces and skateable elements that simulate a lava flow. The skatepark includes bowls, quarter pipes, banks, and rails, catering to intermediate and advanced skaters.
The skatepark was designed in collaboration with Well-Connected Alliance, Auckland Council, and the local skateboarding community, and it was constructed by Convic, an Australian firm renowned for its skatepark developments. In addition to the skatepark, a half-sized basketball court was built to complement the volcanic-themed design. The project was part of a broader effort to enhance community facilities in Valonia Reserve.
