The Vernon Hills Skatepark in Illinois was designed and built by Evergreen Skateparks, a renowned company known for their unique flow designs. The park was completed in 2020, replacing an older wood and steel structure. The project was a collaboration with JSD, which handled landscape architecture and civil engineering for the site. The skatepark spans 5,000 square feet, featuring smooth concrete bowls, dips, and curves that cater to both beginner and advanced riders.
The park's construction cost was approximately $305,000, with funding contributions from several sources, including Hawthorn Elementary District 73, which contributed $80,000 to the project, and the village, which waived $84,000 in park district loan payments. The park is located near the Sullivan Community Center and has become a popular spot, offering spaces for skateboarders, scooter riders, and other users.
