West Moors Skatepark, located on Fryer Field in West Moors, Dorset, was originally built in 2003. However, by 2019, the skatepark had deteriorated to the point where major repairs were no longer viable, prompting the need for a complete rebuild. In 2021, a new concrete skatepark was constructed by Canvas Spaces, designed in collaboration with local users who had been loyal to the park since its inception.
The rebuild project was made possible through significant funding, including a £75,000 grant from Veolia Environmental Trust, £75,985 from The National Lottery Community Fund, and contributions from other sources like Tesco Bags of Help and Dorset Council. The total project cost reached approximately £200,000. The new skatepark is designed to cater to skaters, BMX riders, and scooter users of all skill levels, offering a modern and durable facility for the community.
The park emphasizes inclusivity, ensuring it is accessible for beginners and more experienced skaters alike.
