Winterset Skatepark, located in Winterset, Iowa, was completed in 2017 and designed by SpohnRanch Skateparks. Covering 6,000 square feet, the park offers a variety of features that cater to skaters of different skill levels, focusing on both flow and street-style elements. The skatepark includes quarterpipes, stairs, an A-frame, a slanted manual pad, and a signature "covered bridge" quarterpipe that pays homage to Winterset's iconic bridges featured in the film Bridges of Madison County.
The development of the park was the result of nearly a decade-long effort led by the local nonprofit "Friends of the Winterset Area Skatepark." The project faced multiple challenges, particularly in fundraising. A significant portion of the funding came from community efforts, including $40,000 raised from bottle and can deposits, and support from local families and organizations. The city of Winterset also provided backing, securing the final funding needed to bring the project to life.
The skatepark has become a popular spot for local skaters and continues to serve as a key recreational facility in Winterset, receiving positive feedback from skaters and visitors alike. No major renovations have been reported since its opening, and it remains a free-to-use, open-access facility.
