Automobilen Skatepark, located near Falkenberg, Sweden, is one of the world's oldest existing skateparks, inaugurated in July 1978. Designed to emulate the Carlsbad skatepark in San Diego, California, it features a 35-meter-long concrete snakerun intended to simulate the experience of riding a wave.
Over the decades, the skatepark has suffered significant deterioration due to exposure to the elements and a lack of maintenance. Issues such as improper drainage have led to sections being submerged in water, and cracks in the concrete have worsened, rendering the park challenging to skate.
As of recent reports, Automobilen remains abandoned and is not maintained for public use. Efforts have been made to preserve its historical significance, including the production of a documentary titled "Automobilen: Det Övergivna Skatemonumentet" which explores the park's history and the challenges faced in conserving such cultural landmarks.
