Just off the I-74 exit and nestled beside Liberty Park, near the soccer and baseball fields, the Batesville Skatepark is easy to find—cross streets Pohlman and Delaware will lead you straight there.
This park blends transition and street elements with a strong focus on beginner-friendly flow that still offers room for progression. The layout was thoughtfully designed to welcome new riders while keeping more seasoned skaters stoked.
If you ask anyone in the region about Batesville, chances are you’ll hear one word: coffins — a nod to the town’s well-known casket manufacturing industry. Naturally, that iconic shape made its way into the park’s design. You’ll spot it creatively integrated in features like the coffin extension on the mini ramp and the surrounding rain gardens, giving the park a clever, local flair.
Transition zones wrap the street features on all sides, creating seamless flow. The bowl is a three-pocket setup with depths of 8’, 6’, and 4’, and includes a roll-in, a raised organic center, pool coping, and a vibrant blue-to-orange gradated tile band that mirrors the sharp angles of coffin shapes in a visually striking way.
But it doesn’t stop there. The local skate advocates are already master planning the next phase — with hopes of adding a bike-oriented pump track and a rock climbing boulder zone nearby. Just another example of why skatepark advocates continue to lead the way in building inclusive, active public spaces. Batesville’s new park is more than a place to skate — it’s a community hub with creative roots and forward momentum.
